  Submitting a Final Application

To participate in the program as Project Sponsors, applicants must submit a Final Application. The Final Application requires the following items:

  • A description of the applicant firm that includes statements of expertise and relevant experience.
  • Identification of the customer site or sites and documentation showing the customer agrees to participate in the C&I Standard Offer Program.
  • A full description of the existing and proposed equipment, including equipment counts, efficiencies, and name plate data.
  • Building occupancy and equipment operating schedules.
  • Engineering calculations estimating the energy and demand savings based on the proposed equipment compared to that of new, minimum-standard efficiency equipment.
  • A project-specific measurement and verification plan describing how the applicant will monitor and verify energy and demand savings and indicating the schedule for conducting and reporting such activities.
  • A workplan for project design, implementation, operation, management, and anticipated timeline.
  • Measure cost information, including labor and materials costs.
  • A refundable security deposit or letter of credit equal to 5% of the expected incentive payment or $500, whichever value is greater. Security deposit must be received by AEP within 20 business days from the IA approval.
  • The Final Application must be submitted within 15 business days of the IA approval.

All applications will be submitted for each AEP company on-line via the Project Sponsor Forms section. AEP reviews the application for participant and measure eligibility, assesses the accuracy of the savings calculations, and reviews the measurement and verification plan.

AEP also conducts an inspection of the project site to verify the baseline conditions and the feasibility of installing the proposed equipment. If the proposed equipment has been installed before this pre-installation inspection and the baseline conditions cannot be verified, the Final Application will be rejected and the security deposit will be retained.

Once the Final Application is approved, funds are reserved for the applicant's incentive payment. The entire review process, including the inspection, can take between 25 and 45 business days, depending on the measures involved.
